hello, my name is jane. i am a huge fan of any kind of kettle corn, snail mail, most, if not all, coffee-flavored products, rainbow prints, long bike rides, green habitats, and animals.

raspberry preserves and chocolate ganache

french macarons with vu

just macaron watching. no big deal.

early in the morning, from trader joe's to target to safeway, vu and i went on a supplies run to make our french macarons.  luckily, vu's a total foodie, so he found an easy-to-follow recipe on youtube to make these delectable goods. i just helped here and there while trying to finish watching the virgin suicides in between the separate video parts on youtube. mixing the chocolate and heavy cream together, watching him sift the ground almond meal and powdered sugar together for what seemed like an hour, measuring amounts, waiting around and all, took a good few hours to complete the entire process. but honestly, this was all vu! in the end, we were content with the macarons' texture and liked the way they tasted! i remembered to save two pieces for my brother because i know he is the biggest fan for raspberry-flavored things.

after packing up the supplies, we went to the library and chatted, waited for kids to quiet down so we could start the movie beginners (which was something that never happened), and ended up watching the first 15 minutes of the movie in his car. ultimately we ended up going to in-n-out for dinner and asking each other random questions. the middle of the week has never been better.

this is the video that we watched and followed in the baking process:

the dandy tunes in this video remind me of the french movie amelie. so i must post the classic theme song:

i think french music just makes everyone feel giddier, no? enjoy!
