a precious human life

"Every day, think as you wake up,
Today I am fortunate to have woken up.
I am alive, I have a precious human life.
I am not going to waste it.
I am going to use
All my energies to develop myself
To expand my heart out to others.
To achieve enlightenment for
The benefit of all beings
I am going to have kind
Thoughts towards others,
I am not going to get angry,
Or think badly about others
I am going to benefit others
As much as I can."

.... His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama

This is a meaningful passage that is printed on a Tibetan scroll that I purchased at Seattle's Folklife Fest about a week and a half ago. It feels like ages since I've purchased it though. However I have been doing my part and reading it every morning. I really try my best to follow so. Sometimes life gets somewhat frustrating and difficult, but I honestly try to get through those times by specifically remembering the last few lines. Like today, I was feeling so overwhelmed for numerous baby reasons, so I felt the need to run up Sierra Hill again. It's my favorite place to run up in the neighborhood because it's high enough up there to hide from all things, yet close enough to be revealed to peaceful scenery and natural surroundings that can remind me of where I am from and what I still have. Then I find times of gratefulness again. No deer passed by today though.

Today was the first day of my Human Nutrition summer class and to my surprise, some of my high school friends, Emilio and Carmen, were in there. I remember when the three of us went to Two Buck Tuesday for two buck artsy fun crafts and stuff in downtown San Jose. Those were some good times-some of the few times I actually enjoyed out of high school. Who would have thought that our little triangle would meet again- in a randomly signed up class at the many community colleges that are around- after not keeping in much contact since last summer? Oh the things that could happen in time... I had some awesome Almost Sunny: strawberries, cranberries, and other berries oatmeal during break and for lunch, me and Emilio went to Iguanas, this mexican eatery that's supposed to be like La Vics in downtown San Jose, for burritos. I ordered a veggie burrito with no cheese, wheat tortilla, black beans, veggie rice, and some salsa. Story or should I say lunch, of my life. :-)

Right now, I'm supposed to be completing my first homework assignment, which is to read and write about high fructose corn syrup vs sugar.  But instead of doing my homework, I really want to be catching up with Drop Dead Diva or clearing my room walls to get ready for painting. Or better yet, catch up on some sleep, because my body is super sore. My legs feel wobbly.

I'm currently listening to this mellow song to get my mind on the right track to human nutrition focusing.
