jasmine picked me up this morning and we went over to the flea market on berryessa. it's super rad when you find that one friend who's willing to dig into second-hand clothes just as long as you spend your time lingering around piles of clothes until you find something at a thrift store by yourself. and it's even more fun when you find that friend who shares the same excitement as you when they find what one man finds as junk but you two find as another man's treasure. i only brought five dollars in cash, but i scored two knit sweaters, an old leather fossil wallet, and a magical mickey fantasia flipbook. i'm so excited to give the flipbook to kyle! it's just that whenever i'm out and i unexpectedly spy anything disney-like, i automatically think of kyle and i want to buy everything i see on the table for him that reminds me of him. i have to make a video of the flip-through before i give him the book first, because it amazes me so darn much! oh, and at the flea market, i ran into carmen, which was funny, because the last time i went to the flea market was with carmen during the summer before i left to long beach!
on a side note, i've missed this familiar flea market so much since the last time i visited. but i miss my grandpa even more. every time i'm at a vintage thrift store, flea market, or any second-hand store, i think of my grandpa-the funnest man who ever lived in my life. just the things he valued, the potential he saw in old items, and the things he collected truly made him one of the only people who would take in all of the knick-knacks and little items of home decoration, queer decorative ornaments, and outlandish-things-that-look-half-broken home for his own enjoyment and display; which all of this really brings him all the more wonderful and significant to me as an amusing character and role model that i look up to and think of everyday.
overall, i'm thankful for an entertaining, nostalgic, and positive day. i also got to share some authentic super nachos with jasmine at the sante fe tacqueria for lunch. i really love mexican food, and so does my mother.
p.s. sorry no pictures today because i couldn't get my film to load on my film camera! next time, for sure!
