The Strokes - You Only Live Once

i love, love, love the beginning of this song for some reason. it gets me excited every single time i hit play. this was also one of the first songs that i heard blasted to the max back in first semester in the dorms. from joe's room. i remembering hanging out with joe downstairs in the common room or somewhere outside and we went back upstairs to check out the amazing window room view he had been talking about the entire time. he opened the door, and apparently he had already left the strokes singing loudly behind the closed door with absolutely no one inside the room. it was like walking into the best surprise empty music party ever. i remember thinking dude who does this? hella leaving their music on loudly? this shouts fun. i remember thinking how rad joe was at that point, and it turned out that he still is one of the most sincere, cool, and overall amazing people that i know out there. i miss joe and them.

and to me, yolo came from the strokes. :-)
